The Paterson Alliance, a coalition dedicated to strengthening and supporting the nonprofit sector across the Greater Paterson Region, proudly announces the appointment of Shanikwa Lemon-Watson as its new Executive Director.
Lemon-Watson brings a powerful blend of program leadership, community engagement, and a lifelong commitment to equity and collaboration in Paterson. In her new role, she will advance the Alliance’s mission to build capacity, elevate visibility, and deepen the impact of local nonprofits working to improve quality of life for Paterson residents.
Lemon-Watson joined the Paterson Alliance in 2022 as Program Manager and became the Director of Programs and Impact in 2024. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Ramapo College and is currently pursuing her MBA at William Paterson University.
“We are thrilled to welcome Shanikwa into this role,” said Richard Williams, Board Chair of the Paterson Alliance. “Her passion for community-driven change, her strategic mindset, and her deep understanding of Paterson’s unique strengths make her the ideal leader to guide the Alliance into its next chapter.”
As Executive Director, Lemon-Watson will oversee the Alliance’s signature programs, including its membership network, capacity-building initiatives, advocacy work, and the highly respected Extra Mile Awards. She will also focus on expanding partnerships, strengthening collaboration across sectors, and elevating the collective voice of Paterson’s nonprofit community.
