My Sickle Cell Experience Poetry Workshop

The poet laureate of Newark, NJ, Mia X, will be guiding patients with SCD through a creative process to help them express their thoughts and emotions about their experiences — physical, emotional, social, etc — as a patient with SCD. These patients will create a deeply personal poem in their own voice. Participants will be entered in a drawing to win a $100 Amazon gift card!

If they choose, patients can submit their poems to Pathways To Trust’s art exhibit, Re-Imagining Pain Through Art. The event will be a digital exhibit at the Newark Museum of Art in March and April 2026. At the conclusion of this exhibit, we will be showing the exhibit in Boston in June, at the World Orphan Drug Congress, and we are in the process of securing additional venues throughout 2026.
