Wafa House’s First Annual Benefit, “Partnering Against Domestic Violence”.
What does Partnering with us Against Domestic Violence mean?
We believe the only way to end domestic violence is to bring awareness and gather community members to fight against the barriers that victims face, as well as provide support; i.e. for us to work together. All proceeds will contribute 100% as donations that will go straight towards survivor support services.
What to expect at our upcoming benefit?
We are excited to announce Rowaida Abdelaziz, as our honorary guest speaker. For our entertainment, we are excited to have Al Dal’ouna Dabke dance group perform a traditional middle eastern dance. You can also expect a silent and live auction, raffle prizes, local vendors who will be selling their products, a henna artist, cocktail hour and unlimited hot and cold buffets, and so much more!
What does “Passport Style” event mean?
This event is unique in that it is a “passport style” event. Our goal for this event is to make it engaging and interactive. Attendees will “travel through a survivor’s shoes” to fully understand the types of abuse and barriers survivors face. All attendees will be given a passport, and will receive a stamp as they visit each table, encouraging them to explore each partner and vendor. Community partners will be able to host educational tables to bring awareness to these barriers and the services available for survivors. We will also have a section in the “passport”, where we will list all of the vendors and they can check off each vendor’s table that they visit. This will encourage attendees to visit all educational and small business tables at the event. Once they have gotten all the stamps, they will be entered to win a prize!
