Book Signing: Paterson’s Industrial Age by Richard Polton
The Paterson Museum Foundation invites you to join us at the Paterson Museum at 6:30pm on Saturday, December 9th for a special presentation. Public historian and author Richard Polton will be presenting his new publication, Paterson’s Industrial Age. This image rich volume retells the city’s history focusing on Paterson’s outstanding architectural heritage.
During the 19th century, Paterson, New Jersey grew into a confident manufacturing and commercial powerhouse. The architecture of the period displays a confidence in the city’s long-term future that created a distinctive and noteworthy urban environment. The photographs in this book, largely from the archives of the Paterson Museum, highlight the city’s progression during its period of greatest growth and prominence.
A Paterson native and author, Richard has a background in architecture and planning as well as a passion for urban history. Among his accomplishments, Richard is the author of The Life and Times of Fred Wesley Wentworth: The Architect Who Shaped Paterson and Its People and his newest publication Paterson’s Industry Age. He served as President of the Jewish Historical Society of Northern New Jersey and he is actively involved with the Hamilton Partnership for Paterson.
After a brief presentation, attendees will have an opportunity to talk to Polton and purchase autographed copies of his book. The perfect gift for the Patersonians on your holiday shopping list!
